- 1 1/2 oz bourbon
- 1 oz Campari
- 1 oz sweet vermouth
I used some Garrison Brothers bourbon in this, which lent an incredibly corn-forward flavor. It was interesting how much the choice of bourbon really changed the character of this old standby.

When I’m not sure what to make for someone I’ve taken to asking what base liquor they want and then searching on Kindred. This came up when searching for rye and I was intrigued. I think the salt really makes this one.
I saw my bottle of St Germain in my cupboard when I went to grab another bottle and thought “oh, I haven’t made a drink with St Germain in a while”. So I found this recipe. It was a nice balance of sweet with a slightly bitter aftertaste.
William went to Midnight Cowboy last week with some colleagues and brought me back a special menu from a guest bartender, which of course the cats promptly chewed up. I managed to salvage it enough to be able to read some of the recipes, and this one stood out immediately as something that Dane would like. It’s bitter and vegetal and earthy and he loved it.
Normally I don’t care for drinks with Campari, as they’re too bitter for me. This one was pretty dry but I still enjoyed it.
